Sunday Morning Nursery Help Needed!

It is extremely important that members of First Christian Church understand the need for a nursery.  It provides a safe haven for our littlest Disciples while adults can experience worship without worry. My concern became reality  when I received a call from Tang Suppacheewa, our nursery attendant, that a family member became ill while out of town and they were unable to travel home by Sunday morning.

At that moment, the nursery was without help.  I appreciate Jaime Vincent and Liz Schweizer for volunteering at the last minute.   Please prayerfully consider adding your name to the nursery attendant list by calling  me at the church office a 270-821-5335 Monday—Friday from 2-4pm or email me.  With 25  people available to serve, two Sundays each year would be the maximum to care for these precious children.

Thank you, Alice

Opportunity to Serve! Would you be willing to drive &/or ride along with the Church van on Sunday mornings to bring people to church? A need has arisen in our community. Speak to or email Donna Edwards (Membership Chair) to volunteer.

The Giving Tree will be in place Sunday, November 19 in the narthex.

Each year our church assists families to help give them a blessed Christmas.  These families are provided to us from our school system’s  Family Resource Center.  You are encouraged to take a name off the Giving Tree and buy a gift.

We have tags with clothing needs, a toy request, as well as a “book tag” for each child.  Please sign the sheet beside the tree  w/your name and the child’s name from your tag.

Food items and financial contributions are also needed to make this Christmas project  successful! You are encouraged to give one cent per year for each year since the birth of Christ – $20.17.    These funds support the Giving Tree by purchasing fresh food items  to accompany the gifts.

Funds left after all Giving Tree expenses are paid, will be sent to the Disciples Mission Fund for Regional Ministry support. There will also be an additional book tag for each child.

(Wrapped gifts should be brought to the church by Sunday, December 10th.)

Sunday Message

From the FCC Library…

With the Fall weather comes thoughts of winter and having to stay in because of cold and snow.  That will be a time to catch up on your reading.  The FCC Library has many good books, both fiction and non-fiction, that will help you through those cold days.  Stop by and peruse the shelves, pick out a book, and sit in our reading corner as you are deciding which book to choose.

If you are studying a certain book of the Bible or a subject that you need more information on, please check through all the books in the 200 section.  There is much info available that would help with your research.  The Library is part of the Christian Education Committee for the church and should be used by anyone interested in learning more about God’s word  and his plan for our lives.

We have added some new fiction books for the youth also.  They are located on the bottom shelf of the bookshelves that have biographies (first shelf on right as you enter the library).  We hope the youth will come in and check out some of those books and let us know of other good books you are interested in.

We are getting some new DVDs of inspirational movies.  Stop by and see what we have to offer for family entertainment.

We have regular hours (8:30-9:00 and 10:00-10:30 on Sunday mornings and 1:00 – 4:00 on Wednesdays).  If you  cannot come in during those times, we use the Honor System for you to check out a book and leave your signed book cards on the back counter.  Please do not take a book out of the library without signing it out with the date and your name.  You will have 2 weeks to get the book back to the library (calendar is available for you to put the due date on the “Due Back Sheet” inside the back cover).

Thank you for your support of the First Christian Church Library.   Judy Adkins, FCC Librarian
